KERRVILLE, Texas — Schreiner University Athletics has announced the hiring of Blair Villarreal as its new Assistant Sports Information Coordinator.
A proud Schreiner alumna, Blair returns to her alma mater after earning a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies with a minor in Sport Communication in 2023. During her time at Schreiner, she was an active member of the Mountaineer community and competed as a member of the women's tennis team for four seasons.
"I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity to return to the place that helped shape who I am," said Villarreal. "Schreiner has always felt like home, and I'm excited to help tell the stories of our student-athletes, coaches and teams while showcasing everything that makes Schreiner Athletics special."
Following graduation from Schreiner, Blair earned her Master of Arts in Communication Arts from the University of the Incarnate Word in 2025. While at UIW, she gained extensive experience in sports broadcasting and athletic communications as an Athletics Video Production and Broadcasting Graduate Assistant.
Her broadcasting experience includes serving as a color analyst and sideline reporter for ESPN+ broadcasts at UIW, covering a variety of NCAA Division I sports including soccer, volleyball, football, basketball, baseball, softball and golf. She also developed experience behind the scenes in live production, graphics, camera operation and technical directing, providing a well-rounded understanding of collegiate sports media.
In addition to her work at UIW, Blair has covered numerous Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Championship events during the 2025-2026 academic year, including volleyball, tennis and softball championships, where she conducted postgame interviews, created digital content and helped tell the stories of student-athletes from across the conference.
As Assistant Sports Information Coordinator, Villarreal will assist with the promotion and coverage of Schreiner's 21 varsity athletic programs through strategic storytelling, social media management, photography, videography, game-day operations, statistics, website content and multimedia production.
Her passion for athletics extends beyond competition, with a strong focus on sharing the stories that make college sports meaningful.
"I've always believed that every student-athlete has a story worth telling," Villarreal said. "Whether it's through social media, photography, video or broadcasting, I love creating content that celebrates the hard work, dedication and achievements of our teams. I'm excited to connect our campus, alumni and fans with those stories and continue growing the Schreiner Athletics brand."
Returning to the university where her own collegiate journey began, Blair looks forward to giving back and serving the Mountaineer community and helping elevate the visibility of Schreiner Athletics through creative storytelling and digital engagement.
